A FENAJ foi comunicada oficialmente às 16h30 desta quarta-feira que o julgamento do Recurso Extraordinário RE 511961, que questiona a constitucionalidade da exigência do diploma em curso superior de Jornalismo como requisito para o exercício da profissão, está adiado mais uma vez. Ainda não há definição de nova data para inclusão do processo na pauta do STF. Iniciada pouco após as 14h, a sessão do STF contou com forte aparato de segurança montado no prédio para impedir a aproximação dos manifestantes defensores da manutenção do diploma como requisito para o exercício da profissão. Com a pauta da sessão de hoje sobrecarregada – além do recurso RE 511961 estavam em pauta, também, a Arguição de Descumprimento de Preceito Fundamental (ADPF) 172, relativa ao caso do menino S., cuja guarda está sendo disputada judicialmente, e a Ação Penal do Mensalão (AP Nr 470) –, um oficial de justiça comunicou aos representantes da FENAJ o adiamento da apreciação do recurso contra o diploma. Estiveram presentes na sessão, além de dirigentes da FENAJ, do Fórum Nacional de Professores de Jornalismo (FNPJ) e de uma delegação de estudantes de diversas faculdades do estado de SP, representantes dos Sindicatos dos Jornalistas do RS, PR, SP, GO, DF, MG, Município do Rio e CE. Para o presidente da FENAJ, Sérgio Murillo de Andrade, o novo adiamento deste processo “faz com que a agonia se arraste”. Ele considera, porém, que com mais tempo, os ministros do STF poderão aprofundar suas reflexões sobre este recurso. “Nós termos certeza que, numa avaliação técnica, o posicionamento do Supremo será pela constitucionalidade do diploma e contemplará os anseios dos jornalistas e da sociedade sobre este tema”, disse. A reunião da Executiva da FENAJ está mantida para esta quinta-feira, quando será feita nova avaliação sobre o desenrolar desta luta e definidas novas orientações ao movimento em defesa do diploma.
